British actor Cary Grant once said “We have our factory, which is called a stage. We make a product, we color it, we title it and we ship it out in cans.”
British theatre is one our great unsung Industries, it employs thousands of people across the country and provides joy and laughter to most of those who have the good fortune to get tickets to shows.
The UK is blessed with a fantastic theatrical heritage that only New York can come close to even rivaling. With theatres in towns and cities across the UK, London has an usually high concentration of theatres in a couple of square miles of the West end of London in an area aptly named ‘Theatreland’.
